When people ask me when I started tattooing I never have a simple answer.
I started experimenting with tattooing as a hobby in 2013, and through my involvement in Toronto punk, activist and DIY scenes I spent 8 years tattooing fellow weirdos, developing a distinctly community-taught illustrative style that still informs my work to this day. In 2021 I decided to pursue a formal apprenticeship and make this work the center of my life.
Tattooing is a sacred art
I’ve been drawing since my earliest memories, and I bring that passion into all the work I create. I’m particularly inspired by medieval art, storybook illustrations, fantasy creatures, and medicinal plants. I love to create beautiful, magical and unique designs that help my clients re/connect with themselves, culture, ancestry, narrative, and the natural world. Outside of tattooing I love to garden, hike, read, cook, sing, play games, write poetry, and lift weights.
One of the best parts of my job is getting to hear about my client’s lives, jobs, struggles, and interests, and connect with people from all different walks of life. Sometimes this relates to the tattoo we’re working on, and sometimes it’s just chit-chat, but regardless I’m always honored to be able to assist people in stepping a little bit further into their own story through this practice.
